Tim Shatraw apprenticed in the art of saddle making & leatherwork starting in 1995. He founded Sacred Heart Saddlery in Goldendale, WA in 2004. In 2010, he & his family moved to the Rapid City, SD, where he continued in the leather trade & took extensive training in engraving & silversmithing, as well as lapidary work. You can find his work at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, Prairie Edge & Sioux Trading Post, Alex Johnson Mercantile, and various artisan shops and western stores & galleries throughout the country
In 2025, the family began traveling the US full-time to see the country, make art, and school their children from the road. Art is a family affair - a household full of southpaws and dyslexia makes for a creative state all around.
Carol has helped administrate all along, working on photography, website/social media, and event planning, but this year she stepped into her own as an artist after 26 years as a stay-at-home-mom. She loves making beaded jewelry - find her work on the beadwork page & at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum & Prairie Edge & Sioux Trading Post.
Their daughter Clara is a watercolor artist now residing in Ithaca, NY. Find her work here.
Their next daughter Annemarie makes jewelry pieces as well, and her pieces are noted on the website. She also works in watercolor and textile arts. Her art is available at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. Her baking sells out at Christmastime.
Their son Charlie specializes in Larry the Longhorn, carried by Alex Johnson Mercantile in Rapid City.
